Avi Schiffman's AI-Powered Device "Friend" Sparks Controversy

Intelligence: Avi Schiffman, known for his tech innovations, has unveiled a new AI-powered device named "Friend" that has stirred a mix of interest and concern due to its capabilities of listening and responding to users conversationally.

• The device, a wearable pendant, is always listening and responds via a chat window on users' phones, which has raised privacy concerns.

• Despite initial doubts, reputable sources have confirmed the device is real, and that it was developed by Schiffman, a recognized tech innovator.

• Friend is available for pre-order for $99 and is powered by Claude AI, connecting to phones via Bluetooth with a battery life of around 15 hours.

• The alpha program is designed to explore potential new use cases that can benefit from longer completion limits.

• The pricing for this model reflects the increased inference costs of long completions, with input usage priced at $6.00 per 1M tokens and output usage at $18.00 per 1M tokens (very expensive!)
