Google's Search Engine turns to AI for Enhanced Interaction with Images and Videos
Intelligence: Google is expanding its use of artificial intelligence (AI) in its search engine to enable users to voice questions about images and videos, despite previous issues with misleading information.
The new AI features are part of a significant overhaul that Google began in mid-May, which saw the introduction of AI-written summaries, referred to as "AI Overviews," at the top of its search results page. These AI Overviews have led to concerns among publishers about potential declines in website traffic and subsequent digital ad revenues.
The next phase of Google's AI evolution builds on its Lens feature, which processes queries about objects in a picture. The Lens feature, which generates over 20 billion queries per month, will now allow users to voice questions about what they are viewing.
Google is also testing voice-activated search features, where users can ask conversational questions about moving objects captured on video, and receive answers through an AI Overview.
