ENTERPRISE DNA PRESENTS

Hello folks,

One word has completely changed my life in the last 3 years: automation.

I’m a big fan on automating simple tasks. Saving 5 minutes here and 10 minutes there every day can really add up!

Before, you would have to know how to code to automate anything. Then, it was all done using no-code and connectors. Now, it’s done using pre-set workflows.

There has never been an easier time to automate your tasks, and with AI explosion, this means you can automate even more things!

In this issue, we’re going to discuss the one tool I use every day to automate my work…

  • 📕 Learn Something: Automate simple web tasks

  • 💥 Trending Tool: Build a backend in minutes with no-code

  • 🙃 Something Fun: Writer’s strike and AI negotiations

  • Big Question: Should AI job displacement be supported by Basic Income?

Let’s get right into it…

🤝 In Partnership with Columbia University

Harness the Power of AI

AI’s been here. Now learn where it’s going. The AI Boot Camp from Columbia University serves as an introduction for those just entering tech, and builds on that foundation with specialized AI skills.

This learning experience is perfect for those looking to upskill and set themselves apart. Upon completion, you will be prepared to lead AI conversations — and initiatives — to bring about key results for organizations.

No previous programming skills are required to apply.

Why choose the AI Boot Camp?

  • Lead the way in all things AI: Learn how to leverage AI and machine learning to automate, solve problems, and drive results. No previous programming experience required.

  • Showcase AI skills to employers: Build a portfolio through challenges and team-based projects. Gain access to a network of 250+ employers

📕 LEARN SOMETHING
Automate simple web tasks

Bardeen is a Chrome extension that can automate simple tasks you do online. It has really stepped up its game over the last few months.

One thing that’s very powerful is its list of pre-built workflows that use connectors like Airtable, Gmail, and now, OpenAI.

I use Bardeen for many things! One automation I’ve created recently is with the click of a button, I can take any article / web page I read and get what’s most relevant to me as a data consultant.

For example, instead of reading this article, Bardeen summarizes it for me and why I should care as a data consultant.

Here’s how that works.

Step 2: Open the extension, select Playbooks, and Click the “Get” workflow

Step 3: This playbook reads the webpage you’re on and can answer questions on it using ChatGPT. Input in your question (mine is “why should I care as a data consultant”). Click Save Changes.

Step 4: Open up any article or web page, and select the Bardeen extension

Step 5: Activate the workflow you created and watch the magic happen!

I use this workflow at least 6 times a day! For every article, I activate this workflow and it quickly summarizes why I should care as a data consultant and the most important takeaways.

This easily saves me at least 20 minutes every single day! Try it out yourself.

💥 TRENDING TOOL
Build a backend in minutes with no-code

BuildShip lets you create powerful APIs, schedule jobs, and create backend tasks. What’s the best thing about it? It’s all done using no-code!

If you’re creating any web applications, BuildShip does the back-end for you without needing to know how to code.

They also have (obviously) a text-to-workflow type solution, which makes things even easier.

You can just explain your backend task and BuildShip will create the workflow for you!

🙃 SOMETHING FUN
Writer’s strike and AI negotiations

After a dramatic five-month standoff, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Hollywood studios finally found middle ground, bringing the historic writers strike to an end! The pens shall ink once more starting Wednesday.

The strike witnessed AI, especially text-generating tools like ChatGPT, being thrust into the spotlight as potential threats to writers’ jobs.

WGA's new contract, however, slams the brakes on studios using AI for script writing or rewriting.

AI-generated content cannot serve as source material, shielding writers from losing credits to machines.

Although writers can use AI tools at will, studios can't impose any AI tool usage during production.
