ENTERPRISE DNA PRESENTS

Hello folks,

Happy Monday.

In this issue, we teach you how to create an LLM with your own knowledge base using GPTs.

I’m also thrilled that we’ve now partnered with Pinecone, the OG vector database used to build knowledge-based LLMs. Check them out.

Let’s get right into it.

In this issue:

  • 🤝 In Partnership: Knowledge-based AI with Pinecone

  • 📕 Learn Something: Build a Knowledge-based assistant

  • 📰 Top News: News on AI, no-code, automation, and productivity

  • ⚒️ Tool Snapshots: Futuristic tools for supercharged productivity

🤝 IN PARTNERSHIP WITH Pinecone

What you need for better GenAI applications

Learn more from Pinecone Research on how Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) using Pinecone serverless increases relevant answers from GPT-4 by 50%.

- The larger the search data, the more “faithful” the results.

- RAG with massive on-demand data outperforms GPT-4 (without RAG) by 50%, even with the data it was explicitly trained on.

- RAG, with a lot of data, ensures state of the art performance no matter the LLM you choose, encouraging the use of different LLMs (e.g., open-source or private LLMs).

📕 LEARN SOMETHING
Build a Knowledge-based assistant

What is it?

The downsides of ChatGPT is obvious - the LLM is not trained on your data or the “knowledge base” that may be relevant to you. Training a new LLM is super difficult and very expensive.

The answer? Retrieval Augmented Generation (or RAG).

The idea of RAG is to combine the deep understanding / language power of an already-trained LLMs with the ability to pull relevant information from a “knowledge base”.

A “knowledge base” can be a set of PDFs, a SQL database, your company’s SharePoint, etc.

How do to it?

It’s very easy to code your own RAG-based LLMs, but there are no-code options too. One of them is using OpenAI’s Assistant builder.

For example, let’s build a knowledge LLM based on information from a 57 page drone manual I found here.

  • Go to OpenAI playground and log in

  • Toggle to “Assistants” mode (the default is usually Chat)

  • Type in a name, instructions, and select the gpt-4-turbo-preview model

  • Turn on “Retrieval” and upload the drone manual PDF file

Now, you’ve built yourself a RAG LLM assistant, without needing to worry about chunking, vectorizing, embeddings, etc.
