🤿 DEEP DIVE

ChatGPT gets memory

OpenAI moves to introduce memory to its ChatGPT. It can now remember things about you to make future chats more helpful.

The idea here is that you’ve told ChatGPT you own a neighborhood coffee shop. When brainstorming messaging for a social post celebrating a new location, ChatGPT knows where to start.

You’re also always in control, and can tell ChatGPT to remember and forget anything you wish.

I have semi-mixed feelings… it's a much-needed feature to be honest. On the other hand, the idea of a chatbot 'remembering' our personal details, habits, and preferences feels weird.

There’s a meme out now that your chatGPT history is more embarrassing than your internet search history, and it’s probably right!

This feature is currently in test mode, deployed to only a subset of users.
