⚙️ OpenAI o1 model worth $200/m + 💍 A ring detects early health illness signs

Hi everyone,

Today, OpenAI launches the most expensive model plan ever, at $200/m. In my opinion, OpenAI is “price searching” (i.e., running experiments to see how elastic the need for advanced models are).

Since Gemini, QwQ, and a bunch of others already meet or surpass o1 reasoning, I’m doubtful that it will stay at $200/m.

Let’s get right into it.

Launch of ChatGPT Pro and Its Impact on AI Access

Intelligence: OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Pro, a premium subscription plan aimed at enhancing access to advanced AI models for researchers and professionals.

  • ChatGPT Pro costs $200 per month and offers unlimited access to OpenAI’s top models, including o1 and o1 pro mode, which provides enhanced computational ability for complex tasks.

  • The new o1 pro mode reportedly yields more accurate and comprehensive responses, particularly in data science, programming, and legal analysis, achieving high-reliability benchmarks.

  • Users will experience longer response times with the pro mode, which includes a progress bar and in-app notifications for ongoing queries.

Takeaway: Here’s the thing: if you don’t already use o1-preview on ChatGPT Plus, getting a $200 plan for an even better model is a non-starter… It’s just not worth it. It is fun testing the limits though.

You can ask it a series of 10 related and complex questions and it performs well.

A New Way to Browse the Web with Copilot Vision

Intelligence: Microsoft has unveiled Copilot Vision, a groundbreaking feature designed to enhance web browsing by offering contextual assistance and insights through AI.

  • Copilot Vision, currently in preview for select Pro subscribers, allows the AI to understand the context of the user’s browsing activity by reading the webpage and providing live assistance.

  • This feature transforms web navigation into a more interactive experience, where users can discuss problems and receive guidance, whether planning a museum visit or holiday shopping.

  • Engagement with Copilot Vision is entirely opt-in. User data and context are deleted at the end of each session, ensuring adherence to privacy standards set by Microsoft.

  • The rollout is cautious, starting with a limited audience in the U.S. through Copilot Labs, with plans to expand features and support for additional websites based on user feedback.

Takeaway: If you tend to copy and paste things from websites into ChatGPT / Copilot anyways, this makes it a better UX. It can also read charts, images, diagram too, adding another layer of understanding. Remember that you need to activate Copilot Labs to run this feature.

Oura Announces Symptom Radar for Early Illness Detection

  • Symptom Radar acts as an "illness warning light," identifying physiological changes like variations in resting heart rate, temperature trends, and breathing rate that may indicate an impending respiratory illness.

  • Although not diagnostic, the feature aims to encourage users to take precautionary measures before symptoms become apparent. Notifications are provided after syncing data, indicating signs of strain related to respiratory symptoms.

  • Initially introduced as a beta feature, the algorithm was refined based on user feedback and a larger data set. However, the accuracy is not guaranteed, with the potential for false positives and negatives.
