Tesla's Cybercab and Robovan Unveiled by Elon Musk

  • The Cybercab, a fully autonomous robotaxi with no steering wheels or pedals, arrived at the event with CEO Elon Musk inside.

  • Expected to cost less than $30,000, the Cybercab will be available by 2026 and will charge using wireless induction technology.

  • Tesla will begin full self-driving trials in Texas and California next year with Model 3 and Model Y test vehicles.

  • In a surprise move, Tesla also revealed the Robovan, a larger autonomous vehicle designed to transport up to 20 people or cargo, with no release date or pricing details shared.

Zoom to Introduce Custom AI Avatars for Messaging

  • Users will need to record an initial video of themselves, which Zoom's AI will use to create an avatar that looks and sounds like them.

  • The AI avatar can then be used to relay written messages, a feature that will only work with Zoom's Clips feature.

  • Zoom is addressing deepfake concerns with advanced authentication, watermarking technology, and strict usage policies.

  • The custom AI avatars will be available early next year as part of Zoom’s custom AI Companion add-on, costing an extra $12 per month.

  • Users without the add-on but with a paid Zoom subscription can still create clips using preset AI avatars and voices.

  • The new add-on will also allow Zoom's AI to integrate with third-party productivity apps like Zendesk and Asana and offer new personalization options for meeting summary templates.
