Meta's Development of an AI-Powered Search Engine
Intelligence: Social media giant Meta is reportedly building an AI-powered search engine to curtail its reliance on Google and Microsoft, aiming to enhance its in-built chatbot with AI-generated search summaries of current events.
The project has been underway for about eight months, with Meta's web crawler compiling a database of information for the chatbot.
The new search engine is part of Meta's broader strategy to compete with major tech companies like Google and Microsoft.
Meta recently signed a multi-year deal with Reuters, allowing its chatbot to use the news outlet's articles in responses to user queries.
The company has also been working on developing location data to compete with Google Maps.
