OpenAI and Anthropic Partner with U.S. AI Safety Institute for Frontier Model Testing

Intelligence: OpenAI and Anthropic have signed agreements with the U.S. government to provide early access to their frontier AI models for safety evaluations.

• The U.S. AI Safety Institute (AISI), established by NIST, will be able to assess the capabilities of the models and identify potential safety risks.

• The AISI's mission aligns with the AI Executive Order for the Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence, issued in 2023.

• The AISI plans to work with the U.K. AI Safety Institute in providing feedback to OpenAI and Anthropic.
