🤝 IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PINECONE
How Large Language Model Applications are Built in 2024
One of the best tactics for building applications with LLMs is to use a vector database and RAG - Retrieval Augmented Generation.
This is where you take the user’s input prompt and then search through a vector database for similar text. Then, you take the matching passages (from the vector database) and the user’s prompt and enter that into your LLM (GPT-4, LLaMA, whatever) to generate text output.
Using Retrieval Augmented Generation has huge benefits. It can improve GPT-4 answers by 50%, even on data GPT-4 was trained on. Additionally, companies like Notion also use Retrieval Augmented Generation to personalize answers, so it can do things like question-answering on all your past notes.
Ram Sriharsha is the CTO of Pinecone (one of the most popular vector databases) and he wrote a great blog post about

Thanks and what should we build next?
The Microsoft Copilot Course we released last week was a complete hit. We’ve had 937 people join, with an average of 4.8 / 5 rating (56 ratings). Some examples below.
Very well done, concise and comprehensive information to start the MS 365 Copilot journey — Craig R.
This is a good match for me because I have just joined a Tiger team to evaluate MS CoPilot for my company. — Janine G.
Very good content and use cases — Paramaguru M.
What do you want us to build next?
We have a few ideas, but you (our amazing subs) ultimately get to decide.
As always, thank you so much.

Elon vs. OpenAI is really heating up
Source: Midjourney
Intelligence: Elon Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI alleging that the company has strayed from its original mission of developing AI for the broader benefit of humanity. OpenAI fires back, exposing Elon’s emails.
Specifics:
The lawsuit claims that OpenAI, under its new management, is developing AGI to maximize profits, not for humanity's benefit
OpenAI has defended its shift in priorities, citing the need for significant funding to develop AGI, which is the reason for for-profit structure.
Disagreements arose when Elon suggested merging with Tesla or taking full control of OpenAI, leading to his departure from the company.
Significance: This legal dispute between Elon and OpenAI could influence the future trajectory of AI development. Also, it emphasizes the ongoing debate on the governance and control of AI research.
📕 LEARN SOMETHING
Reverse-engineer any image prompt with ChatGPT
I get this a lot in my consulting area. What’s the right prompt to create this image?
What most people don’t know is that you can use ChatGPT to reverse engineer the prompt used to create any image. This is super useful if you want to create a similar image.
How to do it
Go to ChatGPT (you need ChatGPT Plus for this), and upload an image you want the prompt for, and type in “Create the prompt for DALL-E 3 or Midjourney that will produce a similar image like this one.“
Open up DALL-E 3 or Midjourney, paste the prompt you get from ChatGPT, and make any modifications

Claude beats ChatGPT on IQ test
Intelligence: Anthropic, a prominent AI research organization, has unveiled the latest version of its GenAI technology, Claude 3, claiming it outperforms OpenAI's GPT-4.
Specifics:
Claude 3, Anthropic's new GenAI, is a family of models demonstrating increased capabilities and can analyze both text and images.
Most notably, Claude 3 performs better on most standardized tests, like problem-solving, knowledge, and vision
Significance: OpenAI’s GPT-4 and ChatGPT has been the top performer for more than a year now, and it’s surprising to see it be dethroned by another AI research firm. This is getting competitive to see who will reach AGI first.
