Beyond Presence Raises $3.1M for Lifelike Avatars, Led by Meta's Former AI Entrepreneur

Intelligence: Munich-based start-up Beyond Presence has secured $3.1 million in pre-seed funding to develop hyper-realistic avatars for real-time, conversational situations.

• CEO and co-founder Awais Shafique, a former Meta entrepreneur, announced the funding round led by German firm HV Capital, with participation from 10x Founders, Alba VC, and individuals from Meta, DeepMind, and Zalando.

• The funding will be used to further develop the company’s foundational models and fund the release of its public beta by the end of the month.

• Beyond Presence's technology aims to create avatars that look and act exactly like their human counterparts for use in various sectors such as customer service, recruitment, sales, and e-learning.

• Beyond Presence declined a place in Y Combinator, choosing to keep full equity and autonomy.
