Arianna Huffington and OpenAI Collaborate on an AI Health Coach Project

Intelligence: Arianna Huffington and OpenAI are co-funding the development of an AI health coach via Thrive AI Health, aiming to provide personalized health advice based on peer-reviewed science and user-shared medical data.

  • The AI health coach will be trained on peer-reviewed scientific research and personal medical data provided by the user.

  • Partnerships have been established with Stanford Medicine, the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute at West Virginia University, and the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine.

  • The AI health coach aims to provide valuable insights to those who may not have easy access to health advice, such as single parents or immunocompromised individuals.

  • The AI coach, currently in its early stages, focuses on encouraging small lifestyle changes in areas such as sleep, nutrition, fitness, stress management, and social connection.

Significance: The growing trend of AI applications in the healthcare industry could potentially provide valuable health insights to individuals who may not have easy access to such information.

Poe Introduces Artifacts-like Feature Compatible with Various AI Models

Intelligence: Poe, the AI model aggregator from Quora's creators, has launched a new feature called Previews, which allows users to generate and interact with web applications directly in chats, similar to Claude 3.5 Sonnet's Artifacts feature.

  • The new feature, unlike Claude, works with a range of large language models (LLMs).

  • Previews are particularly effective with LLMs that excel at coding, including Claude 3.5 Sonnet, GPT-4o, and Gemini 1.5 Pro.

  • Users can create and share interactive experiences, such as games, animations, drag-and-drop interfaces, and data visualizations, regardless of their programming skills.

  • Previews support HTML output and CSS and Javascript functionality, with additional format support promised soon.

Significance: This makes complex LLM functionalities more accessible to users and could influence the direction of AI chatbot development and user experience in the future.

News on AI, no-code, automation, and productivity

With the latest update, Anthropic has introduced an AI-driven feature to its language model, Claude 3.5 Sonnet, to automate prompt engineering, a significant element of AI application development. By offering real-time feedback, the feature allows developers to create, test, and polish prompts, potentially quickening the development process and improving outcomes.

The lawsuit against GitHub, Microsoft, and OpenAI accused these companies of copyright infringement via the AI tool, GitHub Copilot. However, a recent court ruling dismissed nearly all of the claims, leaving only two intact: an alleged open-source license violation, and a breach of contract. So, while the claims of copyright violation got a judicial thumbs down, the lawsuit continues.

A new project called the "Data Workers' Inquiry" has collected insights from data workers worldwide, revealing the unglamorous reality of the AI industry. Spotlighting 15 workers from Venezuela, Kenya, Syria, and Germany, the initiative uncovers labor conditions within their respective workplaces, thoroughly pulling back the curtain on a side of AI largely hidden from public view.

Amid growing US-China tensions, OpenAI's decision to block access to its services has brought a storm to the AI community in China, prompting local AI companies like SenseTime, Tencent, and Baidu to offer enticing deals and free migration services for orphaned OpenAI users. This sudden move, while disruptive, may also offer a golden opportunity for Chinese AI firms to step up and showcase their innovation capabilities.
