It’s been decided!

We’re going to build a Gen AI app, with no-code / low-code tools (like FlutterFlow, OpenAI API, Power Automate, Zapier, and maybe even BuildShip).

We’re going to build two things:

• Easy: Creating a PDF chatbot (upload a PDF / slide deck, ask questions on it)

• Hard: Having ChatGPT directly in your Excel / Google Sheets (kind of like Numerous AI)

Research with Perplexity

Perplexity is on a16z’s top 50 Gen AI web products (it’s #7). Why? It’s great for research and getting fact-based traceable knowledge.

For example, let’s say you need to create a research report on how Generative AI is impacting your industry (airlines). With the right prompt, you can get a really good start in the resources that you would need.

How to do it:

• Open up Perplexity

• Type in a prompt. Mine was: I'm creating a research report on how Airliners are adopting Generative AI? List some key facts, trends, numbers, statistics, and takeaways I can use for my report.

• Perplexity will give you the answer, but will also reference and source every single points.

🤿 DEEP DIVE

OpenAI and Humanoid builds robots

Intelligence: Figure, led by Brett Adcock, has teamed up with OpenAI to enhance the capabilities of humanoid robots, as seen in a recent video demonstration of their Figure 01 bot.

Specifics:

• Figure 01, the company's first robot, will be performing basic autonomous tasks by October and will be ready to join the workforce at BMW by mid-January.

• Figure 01 demonstrated real-time conversation capabilities, powered by OpenAI's LLM, LVM and Figure's neural networks.

Significance: Figure and OpenAI's success in creating a conversing autonomous humanoid robot marks a milestone in the development of AI and robotics, and is the first step to the world of I, Robot.

European Parliament Adopts Groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence Act

Intelligence: The European Parliament has approved the Artificial Intelligence Act. It aims to safeguard fundamental rights and foster innovation in Artificial intelligence while implementing prohibitions on certain high-risk AI applications.

Specifics:

• The act prohibits AI applications, like unregulated facial recognition and emotion detection in workplaces and schools, to safeguard citizens' rights

• Citizens now have the right to launch complaints about AI systems and receive meaningful explanations about decisions that affect their rights.

• The act requires clear labeling of artificial or manipulated content, often known as "deepfakes", and the AI must meet transparency standards, and comply with EU copyright law. 

Significance: It serves as a crucial step towards ensuring that AI development aligns with human rights and democratic values. I’m not surprised if we see something similar in the US.
