šŸ’» Save 87.4% of your time (literally) when analyzing data

+ šŸ§  Put AI with Brain in your Google Sheets

Hello folks,

Itā€™s the dawn of a new week and with that, a new lesson on using AI, automation, and no-code to save you time.

I promise that this one is HUGE, and will likely feature this one again and again because of how powerful it is.

See below for how we can use AI + data analysis to literally save your hours and hours of workā€¦

In this issue:

  • šŸ“• Learn Something: Save hours with Code Interpreter to analyze data

  • šŸ’„ Trending Tool: Put AI right into your Google Sheets with SheetAI

  • šŸ™ƒ Something Fun: Can AI play ping pong now? Not yet

Letā€™s get right into itā€¦

šŸ“• LEARN SOMETHING
Save hours with Code Interpreter to analyze data

It just worksā€¦

A phrase frequently used by many but not always justified. This is one of those times where itā€™s completely real and you will need to do a double take after reading below.

When doing simple data analysis, the two tools that people use are Excel and Pandas (Python). Excel is easy but limited, Python is hard but limitless.

Well, guess what? Code Interpreter, the newest technology from OpenAI is easy, limitless, and the easiest of them all!

The one data analyst tool to rule them allā€¦ More details below.

1) Upload a file

After youā€™ve turned on Code Interpreter (see instructions below), you can upload a file virtually in any data format (Excel, CSV, TSV).

Here Iā€™ve uploaded a dataset that I pulled from IMDB for the top 1000 movies.

Code Interpreter even gives you its understanding of the dataset.

2) Ask questions

Now that ChatGPT has a file to play with, letā€™s ask some simple questions and see how easily it handles them.

Letā€™s ask, from to easy to hard.

  • Which genre has the highest average IMDB movie rating?

  • Which genre has the highest average gross revenue, with IMDB scores above 5?

  • Which Director makes the longest movies, on average? Only include Directors who have made 2 or more movies. Include the movie titles as well.

Well, to our surprise, it took less than 1 minute to answer all those questions, correctly!

It did not sweat at all! We had a data analyst to the same, and it' took them ~8 minutesā€¦ so Code Interpreter is 87.4% faster!

3) Visual data

Code Interpreter can also create graphs for you with some quick instruction. These visualizations can get pretty complicated as well.

Letā€™s ask: Is there a relationship between the average movie budget and average gross revenue, by genre? Could you visualize that?

Letā€™s also try: Visualize a bar graph showing the average budget and average gross revenue by genre

4) Thereā€™s more

In this post, we are barely scratching the surface here.

There is so much Code Interpreter can do, like downloading analysis, statistical tests, adding traceability, data cleaning, and much more.

To watch our full deep dive video on Code Interpreter, watch here [30min].

šŸ“Š 5) Turn on Code Interpreter

To use Code Interpreter, you need to have a ChatGPT Plus account, which you can get here. Itā€™s about $20 / month, and we highly endorse it here at the TIW.

To add the plugin, go into your Settings ā€”> Beta features, and toggle Code Interpreter on. After that, when you hover over GPT-4, youā€™ll be able to select that plugin.

Ever wish you can use ChatGPT directly in your spreadsheets?

SheetAI solves this in the most beautiful way possible, by creating custom formulas that leverage OpenAIā€™s ChatGPT API.

It makes tedious and time-consuming tasks pretty easy and fast, especially if you use Google Sheets already.

Here are a 2 quick examples:

  • Use ChatGPT prompts directly in Google Sheets

  • Populate data with the SHEETAI_FILL formula

šŸ™ƒ SOMETHING FUN
Can AI play ping pong now? Not yet

This video has gone completely viral over the weekend. It shows a robot competing on the Ping Pong grand stage.

This does look like something from Boston Dynamics, but itā€™s (fortunately) a fake.

The RunwayML tool was used to super-impose a model over an actual professional Ping Pong player, from this video.

So far, weā€™re safe from robots taking over our sportsā€¦ or are we?
